The 1997 Annual Conference is being organised by the joint UNIRAS and
AVS User Group. The conference is aimed at AVS and UNIRAS users from both
industry and higher education. AVS/UNIRAS is usually well represented by
key management and technical personnel, so the conference provides a valuable
opportunity to find out about new developments.
The conference will have exclusive use of Horton Grange, on the University
of Birmingham Conference Park. Horton Grange was built during the early
years of this century as an Edwardian style gentleman's residence which
now stands in its own attractive and peaceful grounds. It has its own bar
and Conservatory Dining Room with 32 modern and highly specified en-suite
bedrooms in the adjacent North and South wings. The Conference Park itself
is located very close to the University campus and has good rail links with
the rest of the UK, and Birmingham International Airport as well as offering
ample free car parking.
Presentations are being requested on various topics:
We welcome short abstracts on proposed presentations or full papers which
will be published as part of the Conference Proceedings. Accepted talks
and papers will entitle the presenting author to free registration for the
conference.

The proceedings of "International Conference on Information Visualization
- IV'97" will be published by IEEE Computer Society.
The theme chosen for this conference is From Research to Practice. In
recent years, visualization has added a new impetus to the field of information
processing. The development of visualization permits us to walk even faster
through an ever widening information highway. This conference will focus
on widening aspects of visualization not only on computer-based practices
but also on new streams of activities. This three-day event will focus on
the practical/industrial, education and new research and developments of
visualization by bringing together outstanding educators, professionals
and researchers in the field. It will compromise invited lectures, papers
and plenary sessions reviewing the present state-of-the-art, discussing
future directions or reporting new results on the prospective fields. It
is to cover all aspects and sub-areas of visualization and graphics with
particular emphasis of this GraphicsLink-series on Information Visualization.
