Contents
The information for each booking in the update is extracted from the bookings database and converted to a more understandable form before it is printed. Taking the example of booking 5698 (see Appendix D) the first location in the booking form is taken to be the transmitting site and is transliterated from rhb.comp’ to RHBNC Computer Centre (Room C07)’. The rest of the locations (apart from those which refer to devices rather than rooms) are listed as receiving sites. Lines in the Notes section of the booking form which start with “School:” or “Note:” are printed on separate lines below the Contact field.
The DATA LINK’ sessions in the update were used to switch a video channel between Senate House and RHBNC in place of the fifth data channel which never worked correctly. Since the link needed to operate continuously each session was set up to start immediately after the previous session had finished.
A modified version of the program has been produced which highlights the sessions for each of the individual sites. This is used by the site managers to provide a quick reference to the sessions that are to be transmitted from or sent to their site.
