The functional decomposition tables given in the Appendices are adapted from more extensive tables taken from the forthcoming second edition The Science of Virtual Reality and Virtual Environments, Kalawsky, Addison-Wesley. The idea of using functional characterisation tables to represent a man machine interface was devised by The Joint MOD/Industry Advanced Cockpit Working Group - Chaired by the author.
